In closing, a question for Atlus fans!
Okay, so I've only played the first few hours of Persona 3 FES, but plan on beating it eventually. But now I heard there's a version of the game on PSP. Is this actually worth buying? I only plan on playing through the game once (and as a male MC so the female option, while awesome, probably won't get any use from me). I understand there's a few more social links in the PSP? BUT, I heard the PSP game doesn't have stuff from The Answer in it, whatever that even is!
Anyway, is there extra stuff in the male MC's game that makes the PSP version better to play through? What is the definitive version? @_@
Persona 3 FES > Persona 3 PSP > Persona 3.
ReplyDeletePSP doesn't have The Answer, and it doesn't have animated cutscenes. The models are also dirtier (of lesser quality). The only real advantages PSP has is the female route and better control of allies in battle (Also, some strategy things seen in Persona 4). That's really it.
Persona 3 FES is the definite winner. PSP isn't worth the extras.

ReplyDeleteThe graphics, for the most part, took a cut due to the PSP capabilities, the animated cutscenes were taken out and replaced with a screenshot here and there with the characters talking about what's happening, and all the navigation is done with menus as opposed to having some map navigation on the consol.
All in all, I'd say that the PSP version isn't worth it.
Anyway, to answer what "The Answer" is, it's 30+ hour chapter that takes place after "The Journey"/main storyline that wraps up some of the loose ends.
hi there, i have been a fan of yours for as long as i can remember.i am so glad that you decided to try out Persona 3. it is a very wonderful and deep game and totally worth your time.i say play the psp version it is more user friendly than FES. you can trust me on this one and even though it looses points on the cutscene area it justifies itself by showing that words are powerful enough to describe a situation. its like reading a novel really and you just get immersed into it with the story and the characters.
ReplyDeleteas for the FES version yes it does contain animated cutscenes but there is a reason why they released a psp version didnt they? i cant really name the fine points of FES right now but aside from the animations(which you could just go on youtube to check it out)and gameplay mechanics both games are still the same story wise. they are superb in its own way it is your choice to make.
finally regarding the answer... it is a total grind fest... i went through the first part of the game and just lost it... you are better off watching it on youtube...
and if you happen to pick the PSP version, the female playthrough is totally worth it.
Persona 3 FES wins hands-down, especially if you don't care for the female path (about the only redeeming feature of P3P). The cutscenes, along with being able to actually explore make it a lot more immersing. I played both, and honestly, despite the few extra features, P3P felt like it took too many shortcuts a.k.a. cut corners.I wholeheartedly recommend playing through on the Home Console version. Above all, enjoy Persona 3! :D
