Anime Screencap Week: Gao Gai Gar

Day #2 of Anime Screencap Week! We'll be going over a bit of Gao Gai Gar. Gao Gai Gar was a rather silly giant robot show with an equally silly name, and was basically the anti-Evangelion of it's day. Everything about the mecha genre that Eva deconstructed, Gao Gai Gar gleefully embraced. Watching either after the other made one feel rather like a ping pong ball with a brain hemorrhage.

Not all of today's caps were taken by me, but were rather provided by a contributor to /bara/ some time back. Unfortunately I don't recall the chap's name. But thank you, whoever you are!

Now then, allow me to draw your attention towards our true topic for today.

His name is Geki Hyuuma, and never let him talk on your phone.

No shirtsleeves in existence could possibly contain the buffness of his arms! He also has a ridiculous green mohawk. They offset his stylish yellow shades nicely.

The Gao Gai Gar wiki describes him as "the walking epitome of the word 'Macho'", and also briefly mentions his "tanned muscles". These are good things for a wiki to say!

But what about the really important stuff?

Like . . . his ability to shred his shirt apart via flexing?

This one time, in episode 15, he got caught in an attack on the base.

While saving a teammate he ended up with, well . . .

Some clothing damage.

Later in the episode, he went out in the StealthGao to help in the battle against the monster of the week . . . in just his underwear(!!!)

This angle gave the straight fans nightmares.

Guess his clothes were too damaged to repair in time, or something . . . ?

Well, I guess stuff like this is what separates the men from the boys. Bravery makes up the difference!

Anime Screencap Week: Sakigake!! Otokojuku

So let's be fun this week, eh? A full seven days of screencaps! We'll revisit some old favorites and introduce some new kids on the block. EVERYONE WILL LOVE IT!?!?!?

It's been some time since we had a Sakigake!! Otokojuku post. Has anyone been following this series at home? Hokuto no Gun has been releasing it and it's so awesoooome. They're currently up to episode 17, but today at the Stash we're only reaching episode 3 because I'm slow at posting things.

ANYWAY, this episode is about taking a bath in boiling oil.

It's a manly challenge you see. At first, Momo is gonna do it.

But then Togashi stops him. HE'LL be the one undergoing this rigorous trial!

So far in the series these two have been somewhat unfriendly rivals, but earlier in this episode they bonded somewhat. In shonen terms that means they're practically married now.

Anyway . . . as it is with everything else in this show, in this instance shirtlessness is called for.

The oil is heated from below, while a candle floats on top. The man bathing must remain perfectly still during the torturous bath, or he disturbs the candle and burns alive!

Clearly, a dangerous challenge worthy only of the manliest men.

He starts to sweat . . .

Things are heating up now!

At length, it's decided that Togashi has won and Momo moves to put out the flames.

Togashi does that cool thing where he gestures "victory" at his friend . . .

. . . before collapsing from exhaustion.

The first-years are all concerned for him.

So they strip him to his fundoshi and place him on a stretcher.

Now we get to the real reason this post came into being!

Ass cream.

Yep, the instructor stops them in the halls to rub cream on Togashi's ass.

How nice of him! That'll help relieve the pain from those bad burns!

However, the students forget that in Sakigake!! land, the instructors are almost always total assholes.

That cream doesn't make Togashi feel better. In fact, it . . . !

. . . has rather the opposite effect!

(intellectually I know the red on his ass is not spank-related, but it's so easy to forget when faced with caps like these)

The truth comes to light.

That unrepentant bastard!
Togashi's buddies are so cool though.

They ease his pain with some friendly ass rubbing.

Manly tears are shed. This is the power of shonen friendships!

Later, more stuff happens. Until next time!
